Basic Steps In Digital Photography

Most people take photographs and do not think at all about the composition. They don't pose their subject, they don't set up the shop or adjust the light, or anything. Sometimes a basic understanding of digital photography can help people take better pictures.

When digital photography first came out on the market, it gave us the ability to do two great things. First it allowed us to delete pictures that turned out badly, and the second thing it allowed us to edit pictures after they were taken. Still it would be better to get a good picture the first time around instead of having to resort to editing all the time.

Traditional photography rules are still the rule of thumb to go by when working in digital photography.

* Do not take burry pictures. Keep your camera steady and do not move the camera while you are taking the picture. If you find it difficult, use both hands to hold the camera steady. A good way to help you keep the camera steady is by keeping your arms close to your body. Keep your feet apart so you can brace yourself, or hold yourself up against a wall.

* Set up your shot. Tell the person which way to turn, how to hold their head, etc.

* Don't use backgrounds that are cluttered. You don't want any distractions in the background. Sometimes if you take the picture closer up, that will help get rid of what is going on in the background.

* Take your pictures at eye level. In other words, if you are taking the picture of a small child kneel down yourself so that you take the picture down close. That does not mean that the person need to be looking directly at the camera, but you should be on the level of the person

* When you are working with digital photography and people, animals and wildlife move closer. The closer a picture, the better the picture will be. If you cant get in closer sometimes digital photography equipment is equipped with zoom lenses, so zoom in.

Digital Photography Editing Techniques

Remember that you can always delete bad photographs, but you can also fix some defects in digital photography. There are many software programs that let you get rid of elements in the background, red eye, discoloration, etc. It may take a little while to figure out how the program works, but they are pretty simple to use.

If you don't have a digital camera yet, then it is time to get one. Make sure you pay attention to the pixels on the camera. The more pixels a camera has the better quality photograph it can take. Look at the view finder too. Some are larger than others for better picture taking in the camera. Make sure the camera has enough memory to keep all your pictures in.
